Art On Line)
Moët & Chandon White Star
Moët & Chandon Dry Imperial
1899
Colored Lithograph; 58 x 19,5
Parigi, Bibliothèque Nationale (White Star)
Praga, Jiri Mucha Collection (Dry Imperial)
Towards the end of the century Mucha received many commissions to design advertising posters for various products, from biscuits to beer, from cigarette papers to champagne. He designed these lithographs in which he used two female models who were characteristic of his work for Moët & Chandon, one of the most famous French winemakers. One of the models is as ethereal and fresh as the shower of white petals around her, the other is haughty, mysterious, and dressed in lavish clothes, like an Oriental princess. These posters were so successful that the publisher in Champagne decided to publish a series of postcards for Moët & Chandon in 1900, with the most beautiful pictures ever used in advertising.

Official Comment:
“White Star, a balanced blend of the three vines varieties, reveals a harmonious succession of sensations, a soft maturity, elegant lines, offering you sensations which can be shared and celebrated at any time…
Colour : golden yellow with shades of amber.
Aroma : aroma of flowers, hazelnuts, and biscuits.
Palate : soft with a fruity finish, evoking the peach.” - Website

WS Comment:
Rich and a touch sweet, exuding citrus and honey flavors on an easygoing frame. Medium-bodied, with moderate intensity, it picks up a mushroom note on the finish. Drink now. Oct 15, 2001.

Personal Comment:
Sight: Light golden color with big bubbles.
Nose: Not too much of aromas.
Taste: Light acidity to start. Crisp at finish. Bubbles are gone too fast.
