10/16/05 兩款Merlot (William Hill V.S Cristian Moueix) 的品嚐比對-個人觀感

William Hill 2001 Merlot是我在一開始接觸葡萄酒時參考眾多的賣酒網站挑選出來的, 就以瓶身設計而言, 那一片葉子的呈現, 讓我感到非常有質感. 就標籤整體而言, 很是很美國風 - 淺顯易懂, 剛好適合剛入門的我去挑選. 不知為何, 最近開的葡萄酒在色澤上的表現都偏向深紅色, 這瓶也不例外, 在經過10到20分鐘的decanted約是華氏65到70度, 攝氏18到21度間, 可明顯地聞出多樣的水果香蜂擁而出, 除了各式各樣的莓果味之外, 還帶著淡淡的薄荷草本植物味, 剛入口, 舌頭上味覺會感到澀澀的, 不一會, 酸澀的味道隨即被圓潤的甘甜味為所取代, 會所以如此, 正是來自洽當而不過多的單寧表現. 据酒莊方面的解釋, 她們採用Partial whole berry fermentation去適度的將單寧軟化, 使整體表現更加的和諧圓融, 若能夠品嚐個一到兩個小時, 還會有強烈的香草薄荷味不時的湧現. 對這款酒的結論是值得一再品嚐, 而價格更是在可接受的範圍內.




這款是在好市多為了湊滿12罐一箱買進的, 飲用感受如下:
這 瓶波爾多的Merlot酒 精味強烈, 官方述說的味道並沒有真正展現出來, 些微的草香味漂出, 但最後還是變成了麵包味. 同時間開了一瓶William Hill 2001 Merlot(Napa Valley), 簡直是地獄和天堂的強烈對比, 好有衝動地想要把剩下的三罐退回去喔. 最好是她們還沒睡醒. 下面是別人的Note描述98’和00’的Merlot:


I drank the 1998 Cristian Moueix (paid $8.00 in 03 and drank in Spring 05'. I believe that I caught it at its peak as it is not a long ager & also 98' wasn't an exceptional year. I was very impressed. I had with pork roast & baby red potatoes and it paired up beautifully. Soft, ripe fruit balancing the little tannins it had. Overall great value. - Blue Benz
Not that I'm an aggressive woman, mind you. But damn, this wine is good and it goes so well with food! And not just any food. It was surprisingly a better match for broiled halibut in a smoked paprika and lemon sauce than was an unoaked Aussie viognier. Not overly complex and a bit tart by California standards for Merlot, it speaks of cassis with green herbs. The short finish will improve with time, but for now what makes this mildly awkward as a sipping wine is lovely with food. $7 at Costco: definitely better than average wine for a very average price IF you enjoy the difference between Bordeaux and California Cabernet.
